The Antigua and Barbuda government established the Citizenship by Investment Program in 2013, making it one of the newer Caribbean initiatives. Applicants must be 18 years or older, in good health, and have no criminal record to participate in this program. As opposed to other Caribbean countries, applicants must stay at least five days within the first five years after becoming a citizen to maintain their citizenship in Antigua and Barbuda. In addition, applicants must take an Oath of Allegiance within the first five years and before their first passport expires. Finally, applicants must make a non-refundable contribution to the National Development Fund or invest in government-approved real estate initiatives to qualify for the program.
Acquiring a second passport from Antigua & Barbuda can provide visa-free access to the Schengen Area, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, and most other Commonwealth nations. With a minimum investment of $100,000, applicants may obtain visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to over 149 countries by securing citizenship in this Caribbean country.
