Malta Citizenship by Naturalisation for Exceptional Services by Direct Investment

The Government of Malta allows eligible applicants to secure Citizenship by Investment through the below conditions. These conditions include a Government contribution, purchasing or renting a property in the country, and completing a Philanthropic donation. 

A contribution to the National Development and Social Fund is essential: 

Main Applicant provides a 36 months residence period EUR 600,000  

OR 

Main Applicant provides a 12 months residence period EUR 750,000 

Each additional dependant    EUR 50,000

The Main Applicant can either purchase property in Malta and hold it for a minimum of 5 years or rent a property for 5 years with a minimum rent. 

Purchase value of a minimum of EUR 700,000

OR 

Rental value of a minimum of EUR 16,000 pa. 

A donation to a registered sport, cultural, scientific, philanthropic, animal welfare, or artistic non-governmental organisation or society, as approved by the Community Malta Agency must be completed: 

The Government fees that need to be paid apart from the above financial conditions include: 

Main applicant - EUR 7,500

Dependant applicants above 18 EUR 5,000 

Dependant applicant between 13 and 17  EUR 3,000passport 500 EUR 

Costs of Malta Permanent Residency

Applicants must make a qualifying investment to fulfil the basic requirement of Malta’s Permanent Residence Programme’. This includes purchasing or renting a property in the country, donating to the Maltese Government and completing a Philanthropic donation. 

1) Real Estate

Applicants can either purchase property in Malta and hold it for a minimum of 5 years or rent a property for 5 years with a minimum rent.

Minimum amount:

EUR 350,000

Minimum rent per annum:

EUR 12,000

Minimum amount:

EUR 300,000*

Minimum rent per annum:

EUR 10,000*

* for properties located in Gozo – the south of Malta

2) Investment

Applicants must complete a minimum donation to the Government of Malta of EUR 98,000 and a Philanthropic donation of EUR 2,000. 

Minimum amount:

EUR 100,000
